Club Update
We just had our first meeting with the new club leadership team and we want to provide a quick update for the coming season.
The group includes:
Gary Stouffer - Chair - Website, Veronawalk Sports app, general correspondence, RAC committee
Joe Contaldi & Armand Fusco - Court appearance, condition, box contents, etc Armand also does Box signups
Anne Clark - Just for Fun Leagues and special Pickleball events
Mike Boggs - Social events, equipment purcheses of balls, t-shirts, hats, etc. Joe also assists Mike with social events.
For our new members, we have a few ways to keep up to date in our Pickleball community.
1. Visit our website - veronawalkpickleball.com
2. Go to veronawalksports.com for court reservations and future calendar of activities.
3. Once signed up, add either one of the mobile apps for APPLE or ANDROIDphones.
4. Please send all club related email to veronawalkpb@gmail.com.
Court Talk:
1. We have new retractable nets on all the courts to keep balls from rolling into other courts. They have a lock button on top so they should always be unlocked. The magnets hooked to the fence hold them in place. If someone locks the screen, simply move the lock in the other direction to unlock and retract. Please retract them back to the post after play.
2. The new water vacuums we purchased work great but there is a proper way to store them when not being used. Slide the handles off and hook them on to the fence. Then stand the vacuum on it's edge so no water can accumulate inside.
3. Most of you are aware that we have club cameras to live view courts 1-4 and 5-6. This option is available to everyone by adding the UBOX mobile app to their phone, APPLE or ANDROID. Register and then send the email address you used to register to veronawalkpb@gmail.com and request camera access.
4. Recently we performed a sound test on 7 of the most popular balls in Pickleball today. Franklin X-40, Dura Fast 40, Onix Fuse G2, Selkirk Pro, Selkirk Q1, Lifetime Pro 48, Joola HC 40. The purpose was to see if there are additional balls that have the same or quieter sound profile that our current ball has, so players may have more options. Additional details will be announced soon.
5. Rumor control says we can expect the lighting to be installed this coming week. Let's hope so!
6. Just for Fun Leagues - we have a few volunteer Captains already and need a few more. Please let Anne Clark know if you are interested in helping out. It's just one session per week.
