Pickleball Updates

Hi Players:

FINAL WEEKS OF JUST FOR FUN LEAGUE, GROUPS, and CLASSES
The last day of the JFFL will be Saturday, 4/13.
There is still confusion when there are over 24 people for the JFFL. Those signing in after the 1st 24 players will need to wait until someone wants to rest or leave and fill in then. No numbers above 24 will be assigned as it becomes too confusing.
Several of the separate groups such as ladies and mens intermediate and advanced will still be playing through April and May. Their captains will let you know the end dates. The new players sessions on Wednesdays and Sundays will continue as long as there are interested players.
The free classes offered by Gary and Becky Stouffer will end on 4/6. A huge thank-you to them for continuing to donate their time to improve our skills. John Irish, the VW tennis and pickleball pro will continue to provide fee based classes and can be reached at 630 312-9846 or irishjohncharles@gmail.com.

SHADE PRESENTATION TO THE HOA BOARD ON WEDNESDAY 3/27, 1:00 pm
The Recreational Amenities Committee has been working to organize permanent shade options for the pickleball and bocce courts. I will be giving a presentation at the Board meeting this Wednesday, and you are welcome to come to the meeting in person or via zoom to see the options we are suggesting.
The agenda item is IX-g: Discussion and Action on a Recreational Amenities Committee Recommendation Regarding Shade Structures for Bocce and Pickleball Courts, and is near the end of the meeting. Players are welcome to make comments after the presentation. The HOA Board does not need convincing that we need permanent shade, they are aware of the need, which is why they formally put the item on the agenda. If they agree with the recommendation the next step will be for the board to develop RFPs and contact companies to iron out the details, then select the company they feel is the best for the Verona Walk project. They will then budget for the cost as they develop the 2025 budget this fall so that installation can occur in 2025.

CONGRATULATIONS TO THE DIVISION 1 ENICL
Our division 1 ENICL team secured a 3 way tie for 1st place in the league. Congratulations to all of the players!
They also were 1st in the league in 2022. We had a banner inside the 4 courts after the 2022 season, however it was taken down at some point. Maintenance is looking for it, but if any player took it down, perhaps due to an oncoming storm, please let me know so that it can be replaced.

US OPEN PB CHAMPIONSHIP AT THE EAST NAPLES PICKLEBALL PARK 4/13-4/20
If you will be in FL during those dates be sure to come to the pickleball park for this excellent and fun event watching amateur as well as professional matches

As our seasonal players start vacating Florida, we wish everyone a pleasant summer and look forward to your return.

Regards,
Allie
